Solution Consultants

Our Solutions Consultants (aka Software Solution Consultants) bring expert knowledge of ICEFLO to the table, with strong experience of how ICEFLO has been successfully deployed, configured and used in other Customer scenarios. 

ICEFLO Solution Consultants are, first and foremost, product experts. They will typically have been involved in the design, strategy, testing and deployment of ICEFLO over several years. They will know all the configuration options and have a deep knowledge of the features of the solution and how best to apply these in real-world scenarios. 

What ICEFLO Solution Consultants will do

What does a Solution Consultant do? Our Solution Consultants provide strategy consulting and contribute across a number of areas to ensure that our Customers get off on the right footing. Their first goal is to listen to you and learn about your environment, your organisation and your cutover challenges. They will use the information gathered to assist you in the following ways:

  • Help you to configure your ICEFLO instance to reflect your organisation
  • To deliver or support training sessions with you and your key team members
  • To rapidly populate your instance with key reference data, getting you up and running within a day or two
  • To advise on key design decisions that you need to make in terms of how to structure your cutover event within ICEFLO
  • To work with you to import existing runbooks into ICEFLO, capturing as much value as possible in the process and assisting with any related automation needs
  • To work alongside your event managers, deployment managers and task owners, supporting their different needs and showing them how ICEFLO can help 

What ICEFLO Solution Consultants will bring

  • Members of our Solutions Consultancy will have worked with ICEFLO for a minimum of 2 years. They will, naturally, be fully certified in the use of the ICEFLO solution but their product knowledge will be much deeper than even the most experienced ICEFLO user.
  • All Solution Consultants are educated to a degree level (or equivalent) 
  • Minimum of 5 years real cutover experience. Having direct experience of how these events are performed, in environments where ICEFLO has not been available, lends credibility to the advice given. Of course, our Solution Consultants will have experienced the use of ICEFLO in major cutovers.
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams, from both Business and Technology areas, typically working with teams of more than 30 people. Large cutovers may scale up to upwards of 300 people and multiple 3rd party organisations. Our Solution Consultants are comfortable working in these complex and often international organisations.

Out of Hours

Due to the nature of the cutover business, our Consultants are regularly required to work outside normal business hours (defined as Monday- Friday: 08:00-18:00 UK time). We will charge for this premium service at a rate of 1.25 the published daily rate, pro-rata on a per hourly basis. A professional working day is defined as 8 hours.


Event Managers

Our Event Managers are highly experienced individuals, capable of operating successfully at executive level within the context of a large-scale, business-critical technology cutover.

They will typically have been involved in the strategy, organisational design, rehearsals and live cutover events over several years. They will bring authority and credibility as seasoned professionals and a strong track record of successfully working with Customers in this most challenging context. 

What ICEFLO Event Managers do

Event Managers contribute across several adoption phases to ensure that, you, our Customers get off on the right footing. Their first goal is to listen to you and learn about your environment, your organisation and your cutover challenges. They will use the information gathered to assist you in the following ways:

  • To assume overall responsibility for planning and executing cutover activities
  • To design and lead a virtual cutover organisation, building a global organisation including 3rd party service providers
  • To oversee the formulation and approval of a cutover strategy and approach, collaborating effectively with subject matter experts across business and technology
  • To oversee the design and implementation of appropriate processes, including issue and risk management
  • To define and operate an effective communication plan, ensuring full visibility of progress to all stakeholders
  • To provide cutover assurance and instrumented progress reports at regular intervals to executive-level management
  • To lead a team of deployment managers, task owners and other cutover participants, supporting their different needs
  • To champion the use of ICEFLO by demonstrating the benefits and implementing best-practice gained from other client experience

What ICEFLO Event Managers will bring

  • All Event Managers will have successfully delivered cutovers where the ICEFLO solution has been a key enabler. They will, naturally, be solid professional and international experience of executing cutover activities.
  • Varying backgrounds, primarily in either or both of project management or service management
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) 
  • You will have a proven ability to network confidently and effectively, operating at senior levels.
  • You will be comfortable interacting with people across cultural and organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, from both Business and Technology areas, typically working with teams of more than 100 people.
  • As a high-profile leader in what is a senior leadership role, you will be calm and analytical at all times, including when under significant pressure during the cutover event itself.

Out of Hours

Due to the nature of the cutover business, our Consultants are regularly required to work outside normal business hours (defined as Monday- Friday: 08:00-18:00 UK time). We will charge for this premium service at a rate of 1.25 the published daily rate, pro-rata on a per hourly basis. A professional working day is defined as 8 hours.

                                                                                Deployment Managers

ICEFLO Deployment Managers are experienced professionals with a proven background of planning and executing business-critical technology cutovers. Our Deployment Managers will typically have led the live cutover phase of several projects, in different Customer contexts, over several years. They will also bring structure, an attention to detail and a strong appreciation of the risks associated with any technology cutover.

What ICEFLO Deployment Managers will do

Deployment Managers as responsible for the effective preparation and execution of successful cutovers. The role of that Deployment Managers is as follows:

  • To assume responsibility for planning and executing cutover activities
  • To oversee the formulation and approval of a cutover strategy and approach, collaborating effectively with subject matter experts across business and technology
  • To demonstrate a detailed understanding of risk, issue and dependency management
  • To lead the process of constructing, reviewing and approving runbooks, including chairing “walkthroughs”
  • To plan and manage dress rehearsals as required, capturing lessons learned and optimising the cutover plan.
  • To lead ‘Command and Control’ during deployments tracking all tasks against time and quality
  • To manage any issues raised during deployment ensuring these are communicated / escalated to the appropriate level
  • To prepare and publish communications / progress reports to all relevant stakeholders at defined points during the deployment
  • To champion the use of ICEFLO by demonstrating the benefits and implementing best-practice gained from experience in similar circumstances

What ICEFLO Deployment Managers will bring

  • All Deployment Managers will have successfully delivered cutovers where the ICEFLO solution has been a key enabler. They will, naturally, be solid professional and international experience of executing cutover activities.
  • Educated to a degree level (or equivalent) 
  • Project Management (PRINCE, PMP, Agile) and Service Management (ITIL)  disciplines 
  •  Deployment Managers will have a proven ability to network confidently and effectively, engaging with colleagues at senior levels.
  • Deployment Managers will be comfortable interacting with people across cultural and organisational boundaries within a commercial environment, with strong stakeholder management and organisational skills
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, from both Business and Technology areas, typically working with teams of more than 20 people, including 3rd party organisations. 
  • Deployment Managers will be calm and analytical at all times, including when under significant pressure during the cutover event itself.

Runbook Engineers

Our Runbook Engineers are experienced professionals with a proven background of building complex runbooks for business-critical technology cutovers.  They will typically have used spreadsheets for several years before acquiring skills and certification in the use of the ICEFLO solution. They will bring product knowledge, structure and an attention to detail to the runbook construction process.

What ICEFLO Runbook Engineers will do

Runbook Engineers as responsible for the effective preparation of high quality, detailed runbooks. The role is as follows:

  • To collate and manage multiple input sources, including importing spreadsheet content into the ICEFLO solution
  • To lead the process of runbook reviews, updating relevant content as required
  • To assess and report on the quality of runbooks, in line with published guidelines and agreed best practice
  • To demonstrate a clear understanding of risk, issue and dependency management
  • To participate in runbook walkthroughs, optimising the runbook content
  • To participate in dress rehearsals, capturing lessons learned and optimising the runbook content
  • To participate in live cutover events, supporting the Deployment Manager and wider team
  • To champion the use of ICEFLO by demonstrating the benefits and implementing best-practice gained from experience in similar circumstances

What ICEFLO Runbook Engineers will bring

  • ICEFLO Solution Certifications
  • Project Management or Technical qualification 
  • Educated to a degree level (or equivalent) 
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience, with a strong track record of runbook construction for significant cutover events 
  • Our Runbook Engineers will have experience of working with both Business and Technical teams.
  • They will collaborate confidently and diligently with a wide array of contributors to the runbook construction process 
  • They will be comfortable interacting with people across cultural and organisational boundaries within a commercial environment.
  • Strong technical skills in terms of using tools such as MS Project, MS Excel and, of course, ICEFLO.

Out of Hours

Due to the nature of the cutover business, our Consultants are regularly required to work outside normal business hours (defined as Monday- Friday: 08:00-18:00 UK time). We will charge for this premium service at a rate of 1.25 the published daily rate, pro-rata on a per hourly basis. A professional working day is defined as 8 hours.
